Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how AppKatz Software, a registered trade name of LaunchWizard, LLC ("we," "us," "our"), collects, uses, retains, and protects information when you visit appkatz.com, download our Windows desktop applications, or contact us. It also describes the rights you have over your information.
1. Who we are
The data controller responsible for the information described in this policy is:

2. Information you give us directly
- Purchase details. When you buy a license, our payment processor (Stripe, Inc.) collects your name, email address, billing address, and payment-card details on our behalf. Stripe shares with us a transaction record (purchase confirmation, last four digits of the card, country) but not your full card number. Stripe is a separate data controller for the payment data it processes; see Stripe's own privacy notice at stripe.com/privacy.
- Support correspondence. When you email us at
[email protected]or use a contact form, we receive whatever you send, typically your email address, name, and the content of your message.
3. Information we collect automatically
3.1 Download activity
When you download a Windows installer from appkatz.com, we record the following so we can measure adoption, investigate failed downloads, and analyze how Microsoft SmartScreen / Defender warnings affect first-time installs of our signed software:
- Your IP address
- Your browser's User-Agent string
- The product requested (slug, e.g.,
video-editor-windows-app) - The installer filename served (e.g.,
VideoEditor-Setup-1.0.3.exe) - The timestamp of the request (UTC)
- The last-modified timestamp of the served file (UTC)
- The number of bytes transferred
- The outcome of the request (success, file not found, or server error)
3.2 Web analytics and advertising
Our product pages include the Google Ads tag (gtag.js). Google may set cookies on your device and receive your IP address, browser User-Agent, and the URLs you visit on our site. We use this data to measure the effectiveness of our advertising and to improve the site. 3.3 Server logs
Our web server records standard request information (IP address, timestamp, request URL, HTTP status code, User-Agent) for security, debugging, and abuse-prevention purposes.
4. How we use your information
- To deliver, license, and support the software you purchase
- To process payments and provide receipts (via Stripe)
- To respond to your support requests
- To measure download volume, investigate failed downloads, and analyze SmartScreen / Defender reputation effects on first-run installs
- To detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access
- To comply with applicable legal, tax, and accounting obligations
- To measure the effectiveness of our advertising and improve the site (via Google Ads)
5. Legal basis (EU/UK GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our legal bases under the GDPR / UK GDPR are:
- Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)), for processing necessary to deliver and license software you purchase.
- Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)), for tax, accounting, and similar record-keeping.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)), for download-activity logging, server security, fraud prevention, abuse detection, and aggregate analytics. We have considered the impact on you and believe these processings do not override your interests or fundamental rights.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), for advertising and non-essential analytics cookies, where required by applicable law.
6. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with:
- Stripe, payment processing
- Google, advertising and analytics tags on our product pages
- Hosting and infrastructure providers we use to operate the website and store data, under written agreements requiring confidentiality and appropriate security
- Authorities or other parties when we are legally required to do so, or when necessary to protect our or others' rights, property, or safety
7. International transfers
LaunchWizard, LLC is based in the United States. If you are located in the EEA, the UK, or another jurisdiction with cross-border-transfer restrictions, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, including with our processors.
8. Retention
We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law:

9. Security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect information against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure, or access. These include TLS encryption in transit (DigiCert OV certificate), restricted access to production data, and code-signing of distributed software. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- Access the information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
- Delete your information ("right to erasure")
- Restrict or object to our processing, including objecting to processing based on legitimate interests
- Receive a portable copy of information you provided to us
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
- Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority (EEA/UK)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the CCPA / CPRA, including the right to know, delete, correct, and limit the use of sensitive personal information, and to be free from retaliation for exercising any of these rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under California law.
To exercise any of these rights, contact [email protected] with enough detail (such as the email address used at purchase, or the IP address and approximate date for a download record) to locate your information. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (typically 30 days, extendable where the law permits).
11. Children
Our website and software are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
12. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when we do. Material changes will be highlighted on the homepage or by other reasonable means.
